Love All People

“The Spirit of Love All People Lives On!”

IN THE BEGINNING

When God gave Prentice the vision to do something for young people – he wasn’t sure what that “something” would be. However, God had prepared him with the Gift of Song – and with his voice, he learned that what could change lives was music. Armed with a golden voice and his best friend, John Lerner – his music director – he began to teach these young people a craft.

Although, not everyone had the ability to create vocal artistry, he shared the music with them. Those who could not or would not participate in the vocal or instrumental part of learning – were taught that not only those who are onstage were important, but those behind the scene were just as important. Learning how to be stage hands and run the sound, they became a vital part of a growing family.

With contacts at the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas, NV, they began to do shows at the Casbar Lounge. Here they touched many lives – those who were passing by, began to come regularly to hear the music and here the testimony of how lives were changed.

The Sahara also offered a place for Love All People to have their church “Star for God”.

As the group continued to expand their horizons, many of the members felt that it was imperative to go back and share what they had learned with their peers. That there was a better way, that drugs and alcohol were not the answer to their problems. They began to create a program specifically aimed at the youth. Then they went about getting into the schools. The sheriff’s department sponsored them to perform in the schools in Las Vegas.

IN THE SCHOOLS

Love All People created three different performances for the age groups in the schools. Elementary, Middle (or Junior High) School, and the High School students. Performances were also done in various colleges across the U.S.

We were very fortunate in our travels to have been sponsored by  M.A.D.D. [Mother’s Against Drunk Drivers], S.A.D.D [Students Against Drunk Drivers], the D.A.R.E [Drug Abuse Resistance Education] program as well as various other organizations – while traveling across the country and performing.

While in the Elementary schools, we attempted to shed light on the drug situation. Some of the phrases we taught were;

“What you hold in, you act out!”
“Put down the negative, pick up the positive”
“I BELIEVE IN ME!”

We also encouraged the kids to go home and just give their parents a great big hug! To let them know that they were loved and then report back to the principal that they did hug their Mom and/or Dad!

IN THE CATSKILLS

While living in New Jersey, Love All People was contracted to perform at various resorts in the Catskill Mountains. Places such as the Grand Hotel, Nevele Grande, Kutsher’s Hotel, and to name a few. This was one way that God brought Prentice Minner full circle, by allowing him to perform in the same places that he had started out.

“One of the things that I remember most about the performances were during the winter. After the last show, we would break down our equipment and have to load it all back up in the truck. The nights were very cold, with snow on the ground. But it was also the most dazzling sight to behold. Off the trees icicle’s dangled like leaves from the branches. The lights from the hotels created tiny diamond sparkles to flash on them. I often stop to just look at how beautiful it all was yet surreal. It would take a few moments before I could drag myself back to the reality – and of course, it didn’t help that my nose and ears were freezing too.” – Shauna
